Last Saturday (29/8/10) saw members of Greater Manchester Police's Lesbian and Gay Staff Affiliation (LAGSA) join lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender colleagues from forces across the country to take part in the Manchester Pride parade.
This year the police contingent, led by members of Grearter Manchester Police Band and Cheshire Constabulary Band, was larger than ever numbering nearly 200.
The group was joined by Greater Manchester Police’s Chief Constable, Peter Fahy, and supporters from across the police service, all marching in support of their colleagues.
The parade, the biggest in the events history, drew huge crowds into the city centre despite the occasional downpour and is set to raise £135,000 for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and HIV charities.
