A joint force from the Sudanese army and a former rebel group arrested today three persons suspected of killing Rwandan peacekeepers in north Darfur. On December 4, Unidentified gunmen attacked a platoon of 20 Rwandan soldiers from the hybrid peacekeeping force escorting one water tanker in Saraf Umra, one of the government militias' stronghold locations in North Darfur. They killed three blue helmets. One day after, the gunmen killed two Rwandan soldiers and wounded a third in an assault at Shangil Tobay.

The Rwandan government today pointed fingers at Sudan suggesting the latter is responsible for the deadly attacks over the weekend against its peacekeepers deployed in Darfur

Warning broadcast of impending demonstration against the Sudanese government here in Khartoum. Public holiday called and expected violence.

Paris, France - The Sudanese journalist briefly jailed for wearing "indecent trousers" said Wednesday she might not return to her country but instead continue her campaign for women's rights from abroad. Lubna Ahmed Hussein, who said she defied a travel ban and sneaked out of Sudan, said however she was not planning to ask for asylum in Europe

Khartoum, Sudan - France’s foreign minister, Bernard Kouchner, today commended the courage of Lubna Hussein a Sudanese journalist and women’s rights activist who was recently released from jail after charges of violating Sudan’s rigid dress code. Last September, the judge ordered the female journalist to pay a fine of 500 pounds ($200) or else be jailed for 30 days after being convicted of indecent dressing. Lubna refused to pay the fine but she was released well before her one month jail sentence expired.

Paris, France - France's foreign minister has praised the courage of a journalist who has led a fight against a law in Sudan allowing for women to be flogged for wearing pants. Bernard Kouchner says Lubna Hussein — who was released in September after two months behind bars — is a model for showing the courage to rebel. The 43-year-old journalist says she had been unfairly prevented from leaving her country for violating an indecency law but got out by hiding under a head-to-toe Islamic niqab.

Paris, France - A journalist who became a global celebrity when she was prosecuted for wearing trousers has defied a ban on leaving Sudan to rally support in Europe for the emancipation of Muslim women. Visiting France last week, Lubna Hussein said she had received death threats since beginning a campaign to stop the flogging and imprisonment of women who wear trousers. She risked punishment for leaving Sudan illegally, but this would not stop her from exposing the “absurdity” of laws that humiliated women.

Khartoum, Sudan - In less than six months, the Sudanese will be choosing their next president. A young Sudanese voter writes about the need for change, the power of popular movements, and one promising candidate with a campaign on Facebook.

SPOILER: "One of the most stunning roars you will ever hear from a football stadium as the Algerians go properly nutbag. Keeper Faouzi Chaouchi wastes no time in clambering up on to the crossbar and takes his shirt off - the crowd aren't going anywhere for a long, long time."

L'équipe nationale Algérienne, accueilli en grande pompe lors de son entrainement a Khartoum.Merci au peuple soudanais pour son accueil chaleureux.
