Flower pyramid

Not as much was flowering in the cactus garden as I had hoped, given the amount of rain we have had. This flower was emerging from a patch of Hen-and-chicks.

The sign said these Red Hot Pokers (what, you thought I knew these were Kniphofia rooperi??) are from South Africa, suggesting the "Australian" theme is interpreted loosely.

I have never seen a eucalyptus tree in flower before. Which is odd, because California isn't short of eucalyptus trees.

These small white flowers were growing in the grass near the Rose Garden. Any thoughts what they are? Some sort of wild crocus?

The pond is that dark central bit. In all the years I have been going to the Huntington Gardens, I have yet to see a lily flowering on the pond.

Late afternoon lawn

Our plan had been to play with Jonas on the lawn, since he had liked it so much the last time (in his fifth month!), but since has cried every time we have tried sitting him on grass. But alas it was too late to sit for a while once we were actually passing by.
