Finland (Åland Islands) / Sweden: Märket lighthouse glowing faintly in the blue twilight of the Scandinavian summer night (1:17 AM). The border between Finland and Sweden runs through the small Märket island in the Baltic Sea. The two other light spots seen in the photo are the setting moon on the left, and the Swedish lighthouse Understen in the horizon. (Exposure time: 30 seconds.)

Taken on a jetty about 10-11 pm when the sun just had gone down behind the island on the otherside of the the sea. The feeling was really nice that day and the sunset was amazing on Bergö on the island Åland which belongs to Finland.

Finland (Åland Islands) / Sweden: A black guillemot (tystie) couple on the shore of Märket, a small lighthouse island in the Baltic Sea at the border between Finland and Sweden. The harsh environment of Märket offers a good breeding habitat for the black guillemot. I often spotted these birds enjoying the evening sunshine on the same rock, ready to plunge in at approaching danger.
