I got up at oh two hundred hours in order to photograph a fantastic (in my dreams) sunrise at the Bosque del Apache NWR, only a short 3-hour drive away.
I had to settle for this. Boo hoo, woe is me.
I have a weather page on the internet and watch the weather at the bosque very closely. When I see 3 cloudy days in a row I go for the middle one. It's no guarantee of success obviously but it's something. No, I'm not giving up.

I thought it funny when I saw these two birds at the Bosque del Apache NWR. It's as if the crow was trying to imitate the Bald Eagle. The distance from me to the birds was really extreme, around 300 feet.

Digiscoped Using:
I most commonly shoot from inside my truck using the window mount shown in the digiscoping set.
It's rare that I use the tripod because the truck makes a great blind.
Nikon P5000 camera
Nikon 82mm ED Fieldscope angled body
Nikon 30X Wide DS Eyepiece
Nikon FSB-6 Bracket
Manfrotto 055MF3 Tripod w/ Manfrotto 3130 micro fluid head
Bogen 3292 Car Window Pod with Manfrotto 3130 micro fluid head
See my Digiscoping Set for a lot more information.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. Dodge 4X4, Levi Jeans, no-name knit shirt, fruit of the loom underwear, el cheapo sandals and the rest you don't want to know.
There is an increasing interest in the arcane black art of digiscoping so I hope this makes the path a bit easier for those crazy enough to take the plunge.
I was amazed at how many digiscopers I saw at the Bosque del Apache last time I was there.
