From the Train of Death to the Wall of Shame - James Whitlow Delano I’m a regular reader of The Digital Journalist, it is truly one of the best websites to check out amazing photography from the world. One of its recent articles is called From the ‘Train of Death’ to the ‘Wall of Shame’ by James Whitlow Delano, telling the story of citizens from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras who make the treacherous journey from Tapachula, Chipas, to the US border just to escape poverty. According to the World Bank in 2007, the average annual wage in Guatemala is only $2,400 forcing people in to the prostitution, drugs and trafficking. Read more at www.inthoughts.typepad.co.uk

Comprehensive guide for driving North, Central, and South America. Good info on border crossing, road conditions, camping, hotels with secure parking, other people who are driving.

Crossing the Guatemala-Mexico border region is perhaps the most dangerous leg of undocumented Central Americans' long journey to the United States. This border region also demonstrates in microcosm everything that's wrong with U.S. policy toward Mexico and Central America, where free trade, the drug war, US-backed militarization, and repressive immigration policies converge-making a bad situation worse for Central American migrants.
