Kava, is both a plant and a beverage made from the roots of the Kava plant. Kava is grown on islands in Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia. The worlds largest producer and strongest kava in the world hails from the Republic of Vanuatu.

An interesting island nation. maybe a good place to get away at.

This is the national dish of Vanuatu, but more popular in the central islands. This particular laplap is made with grated banana, the really large cooking ones and chicken. It must've been popular that day as most of it is gone and it is still steaming and glistening with coconut cream. The price is hidden but should be 150 vatu or just over a US dollar.
