What President Bashar al-Asad confirmed is enough in terms of pride and potency: what is taken by strength is not restored except by strength, and that it is required of this Arab nation to be aware that what is happening now in Gaza will not exclude anyone. The Arabs are all in one boat and they either sink together or they rise together, and they are capable of that as long as they hold onto the free will expressed at the Doha Summit.

We Arabs often interact with decisions made by the international community with seriousness, for we imagine that they carry the balm for our wounds and the solutions for our crises. This is despite the fact that we have learned previously of their non-effectiveness because Israel does not commit to complying with them, armed with the eternal American veto that supports her in contradiction to the international community’s desire. Therefore we notice that some of the Arab decision-makers strive to find the reasons for their languishing and indifference and remonstrate their peoples for not accumulating any effort towards addressing and appealing to the international community about their fair treatment and stopping injustice towards them in the face of the tyranny of the occupation and the oppression of the international community.

The Egyptian Initiative forms the public and official departure from the world of the resistance, its correctness, and its decisions. The initiative does not belong to the “world of coexistence” which has ended, but rather, and even more than that, it forms the Egyptian government’s share in the Israeli war against Gaza, that is, the “political dividend” which Egypt will receive, yet in exchange for unredeemable losses from the Israeli-American agreement to patrol her borders to prohibit “weapons smuggling!”
