Paris 26 Gigapixels - Interactive virtual tour of the most beautiful monuments of Paris

The Pocono Regions represents more than 2500 square miles. This is twice the size of ‘Rhode Island. There are few metropolitan areas. Small cities and small towns are sparsely scattered in a landscape that is mostly rural.Tourists romantically guide visitors through back roads to find that great restaurant “nestled in the word in the heart of the Poconos” this translates to “the middle of nowhere”.

With initial negotiations and surveys already complete, China is now making plans to connect its high speed rail line through 17 other countries in Asia and Eastern Europe in order to connect to the existing infrastructure in the EU. Additional rail lines will also be built into South East Asia as well as Russia, in what will likely become the largest infrastructure project in history.

APARTMENT BUILDINGS, Rambla Francia, Montevideo, Uruguay (III)

MONTEVIDEO

Uruguay’s capital and by far its largest city, Montevideo is a vibrant, eclectic place with a rich cultural life. Stretching nearly 20km from east to west, the city wears many faces, from its industrial port to the exclusive residential suburb of Carrasco near the airport.

In the historic downtown business district, art deco and neoclassical buildings jostle for space alongside grimy, worn-out skyscrapers that appear airlifted from Havana or Ceauşescu’s Romania, while across town the shopping malls and modern high-rises of beach communities like Punta Carretas and Pocitos bear more resemblance to Miami or Copacabana.

If you’re coming from Colonia or Uruguay’s northern beaches, Montevideo’s polluted air and honking taxis may feel a bit jarring, but stick around. The capital’s active and resurgent urban culture is a palpable force, and locals are justifiably proud to share it with you. In Ciudad Vieja, the heart of historic Montevideo, old buildings are being restored to make room for boldly painted cafés, hostels and galleries, while down by the port the municipal administration has spruced up the Mercado del Puerto to accommodate a new city tourist office and Carnaval museum.

Montevideo serves as administrative headquarters for Mercosur, South America’s leading trading bloc, and the capital’s many embassies and foreign cultural centers add to the international flavor. Meanwhile, the city’s music, theater, art and club scenes continue to thrive, from elegant older theaters and cozy little tango bars to modern beachfront discos.

Thailand - Moon Rise over Bangkok Skyline - View from 84th floor of Baiyoke Sky Hotel

Bangkok is the capital, largest urban area and primary city of Thailand. Known in Thai as Krung Thep Mahanakhon (Thai: กรุงเทพมหานคร) or กรุงเทพฯ Krung Thep meaning "City of the Deity") for short, it was a small trading post at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River during the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It came to the forefront of Siam when it was given the status as the capital city in 1768 after the burning of Ayutthaya.

This photo was taken from centrally located 88-storey Baiyoke Sky Hotel in the heart of downtown Bangkok, which also the tallest Thailand's hotel. I have actually stayed in this hotel for one night last year as I wanted to capture the city from its highest view point. I was however very disappointed with this rather dirty and very used hotel. On top of that I came too late and left too early to find out that there is an open (unfortunately rotating) terrace. Plan to shoot that particular evening when I took this shot was originally in Siroco bar, which should be really posh place. Luckily just before heading there, I checked some reviews online and found out that you have to be dressed really well and no flip flops are accepted. I was not prepared for this and had only 15 min to possibly find a nice new shoes or new location. I thought that I might give a try to the Baiyoke Sky Hotel and try to find some clean spot on the windows so I can capture the sunset and blue hour. When I got to the hotel I was nicely surprised that there was an open terrace - great, but rotating one - really bad - that meant all my shots will have to be hand held. Luckily 5D II can perform great in high ISO...
