Well, it wasn't all large and dangerous rocket ships all the time for us up there in the Texas panhandle in the summer of 2006. A little nature (see Palo Duro Canyon visit depicted here) and a little culture (see the Cadillac Farm depicted earlier in this stream) provided a modicum of variety in between all the model rocket excellence.

We went to eat at Red Lobster in Amarillo. May this photo serve as vague proof of this one-of-a-kind episode of culinary folly.
Also see (however blurry it did turn out in the end) Chad sporting a Finally Punk t-shirt oozing chaotic girliness, whereas Shannon is presenting a chest of hand grenades courtesy of (International) Noise Conspiracy conveying perhaps her comfort-level regarding boyish flirtation with revolutionary violence.

Dessert Storm Hat One of Shannon's Most Brilliant Creations
Melbourne, VIC, May 13th 2008 - In a brief public statement Shannon reflected on a hat she custom-decorated during a July 2006 visit to Amarillo, Texas as being one of her most brilliant creations.
The initially-unadorned hat in question was purchased by her friend Chad at a Dollar Store in response to a sudden bout of Desert Storm hat envy that gripped him during an initial visit to site of the 25th Large and Dangerous Rocket Ships (LDRS) festival some half hour outside of Amarillo.
Equipped with nothing but a red pen, Shannon added a, some say enigmatic, some say brilliantly symbolic design to the bill of said hat. Two lightning storm clouds hover over a scene of a palm tree being shot by an apparently automatic firearm, with simple, yet elegant as well as effective DESSERT STORM lettering occupying the center of this ad-hoc design.

ABOUT SHANNON: Since the late 1970s, Shannon has created things, some more and some less brilliant than others.
